EDINA is a JISC designated national academic data centre based at the University of Edinburgh. EDINA provides ‘shared service’ online access to key primary data for research, teaching and learning. One of it’s flagship services is Digimap which gives access to spatial data from the Ordnance Survey and the British Geological Survey. Digimap has over 50,000 registered users across a wide range of disciplines – only about 20% of usage is accounted for by traditional geography based disciplines. EDINA also runs data discovery services and various research data management services which promote best practises for working with and archiving spatial data. EDINA runs Digimap for Schools in partnership with the Ordnance Survey promoting the use of maps in schools. Digimap for Schools won the Gold award from the Geographical Association in 2011.
