Sir Clive Granger Building: B26 E - Sept. 17, 2013, 2 p.m. to Sept. 17, 2013, 6 p.m.
This workshop will focus on the implementation of a number of open source tools such as Geoserver, PostGIS, Tomcat, Dojo Mobile and OpenLayers Mobile to develop a mobile web mapping application.
With the proliferation of mobile devices it is becoming increasingly important to build platform agnostic geospatial web applications. It is possible to build very capable web-based applications that operate across a range of mobile operating systems. This has the additional benefit for the re-use of code and infrastructure for desktop browsers. This workshop will focus on the implementation of a number of open source tools such as Geoserver, PostGIS, Tomcat, Dojo Mobile and OpenLayers Mobile to develop a mobile web mapping application. Participants will learn how to produce a mobile site with mapping visualisation and gazetteer search. Additionally the workshop will cover the creation of annotations using Geoserver.
