What could we have done better in terms of pre-conference communications with sponsors?
Very minor thing, the shipping information seemed to be only in an email. At least that I could see. Having this on a one-stop web page on the web site would be ideal. I may have missed it of course.
I think it was pretty good. It might had made sense to send different emails to different sponsor levels so that we wouldnt have had to read something not applicable to us.
There was a little confusion over our requirements to purchase conference tickets combined with access via our sponsorship bit it was sorted in the end.
Nothing. It was better than most.
everything was perfect
Nothing I guess.
This was one of the first times (or the first one) that FOSS4G sponsors received regular updates about conference planning. This is something that should be repeated in future years.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
No
Better than expected in terms of interest in our company's services.
The exhibition space hadn't been very well thought out. We were out in the bar area which generally had very little foot traffic except when the food was served, at that time it was so full you couldn't engage anyone and everyone was just focussed on getting the food before it ran out. As there was not anywhere near enough space to eat people were using our display space and table to eat off of and not in a good way i.e. "hey Mango guys mind if we sit here". The space we were given wasn't great, we were just in front of a pillar that usually houses a water vending machine, but that doesn't matter as we can make anywhere work providing we get the foot traffic. To make things worse the area had suffered what smelled by a broken sewage pipe under the floor which workers were tinkering with for the whole event, but got worse towards the end. Their answer to this problem was to often keep all of the doors open making the area cold and therefore making it even less appealing as a hang out areas between sessions. All of the other sponsors in that area were saying the same thing. Although supporting this event wasn't just about business this event was a very large outlay for our small company and we don't think we will come even close to seeing a return on that investment. Sorry to come across as negative, I'm usually an extremely positive person and don't like to complain, but you did ask ;-)

If no please explain what was unsatisfactory
Please see the previous page. I didn't realise I would get a separate page for this. But I will add a point about the catering. The food was good, but the service was very inflexible, they often didn't quite have enough food for everyone and if you weren't first in you would end up with the scraps, this created an atmosphere where everyone felt they had to be quick into the queue, this made it very difficult to draw people in during meal time as they were just focussed on making sure they got what they wanted, and obviously it's also difficult to engage someone when they've got a place in one hand, a fork in the other and a mouth full of salad. Also we missed most meals because that was the only time the area was busy so we couldn't spend that time in the queue, if you waited until it had died down the food had already been packed up with nothing held back for exhibitors.
we had no exhibition space, so all answers are n/a in our case but mandatory in survey, so we responded with dummy answers

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
From an attendees perspective it was a great event with great speakers and lots of fun but as a sponsor in the atrium I'm sorry to say that it was terrible. Including flights from Cambodia for two and the cost of the exhibition space, hotels etc our total outlay was over $16k which is a lot of money for a self-funded startup to lay down and not see a return. Our service was very well received by those who got to see it, but having around 20 people per day at our booth at a conference of over 800 was extremely disappointing. We got more leads from my presentation than we did from the booth. Again sorry for having a whinge and I just want to say that as an attendee and a speaker I thoroughly enjoyed the event and would definitely attend again in either of those capacities.
I think the conference center could have been a little more exhibitor friendly, for shipping items before hand, renting equipment etc.
Excellent event and a good first time experience for us, which will make it easier to consider future participation. Hard to fault any of the organisation and the generally great atmosphere created by the enthusiastic FOSS4G team and it's ancillary teams .e.g. catering, event team, etc. One thing to consider is a reduced rate tariff for sponsor's staff who may be involved in the event but will not able attend any of the conference presentations and possibly not be able to even benefit from the catering.
